Zombie makeup

The zombie shuffle is now only 5 months away...

Some time soon i'm going to have a zombie makeup workshop...whereby i will make up some people with zombie skin and holes and stuff and show you how it's done! This year a stack of us are going to be doing the zombie shuffle and while i love doing the makeup, it takes a long time to get through everyone and there are more each year - last year was awesome but a bit rushed in the end! So in the best tradition for getting the most realistic and gruesome makeup done, i'm thinking of showing my tips. it's not hard, you just need some cornflakes, tissue, flesh coloured latex, and fake blood in variious concentrations in various types of spray bottles.

Anyone intersted? prob in feb on a sat or friday night at this point.

The Melbourne Cup

I'll never know why we have to work Easter Tuesday these days, but then we get a Tuesday off in November to watch a 3 mintue horse race. Honestly. It's a freaking HORSE RACE.

That being said, i welcome and/or support this random holiday with gusto and enthusiasm. Not working on Wednesdays and taking the Monday off as leave gives me a five day holiday.

So in honour of the horse race that hopefully will allow me to go to bunnings to buy much wood and then ruin it with the router in the back lean to, here is a picture i call 'at the races'.

Full of Taxidermy Fail

I'm putting these under a cut cause they are not overly safe for work. Lots of fake zombie blood....

...so i started doing taxidermy on this mouse but it turned out mutie. so i decided it was a zombie mouse

This mouse looked a lot better. i appeared to have worked out how to restuff one at this point, however, i broke the skin around it's eye while trying to get an eye into it. so it also is a zombie mouse

Then i had an epic fail with a baby chicken. the fail was that the shape i had made for the chicken skeleton was really wrong. Birds are harder.on an attempt to stuff it back into it's skin,things went a bit awry. and it turned out i was coming down sick at that point and i stopped caring to make it good...

so i decided, time for a zombie chicken.

now, THIS was fun

This was the first go i had at using water based oil paints but i didnt finish it till now.

I truly, truly, suck at bird taxidermy.

This was my first attempt at a bird, my second attempt at any taxidermy. It's something that is going to take a LOT of practise to get right!!!!
This was a budgie that died of 'natural causes' and i think it was a bit old by the time i got to it. But that is just an excuse really for what is me learning a new skill and getting it terribly terribly wrong to start with.

(...and i'm not putting it behind a cut for the same reasons that supermarkets don't have their meat in an AO sealed section and butcher's shops don't have opaque windows...)

You will notice the cat helped me take the photos.

A while ago i met a truly appauling couple at a bike maintenance day. DW suggested I should produce a picture inspired by them and call it 'The Bland misadventures of Cardigan Man and the Beige Whisperer'

Indeed, Sir, a fine way of putting it and a most reasonable request. I am sure this painting will be in demand for postage stamps, commemorative plates, tattoos and as decoration on the side of pimped-out frigates throughout the galaxy. This will be even more the case when your efforts on behalf of the Jovian Children's Fun gets the recognition it deserves. (By the way: please pass my regards onto Bruno, Guiseppe and little Ribbons. I hope her surgery went well and her spiraling medical bills will no longer prove a pressing problem.)

Although the production of the artwork and honoring such a great man of the galaxy is it's own reward, I hope, Sir, that you won't think any less of me for bringing up such crass matters as the terms and conditions of my commission.
